PRESS RELEASE
Brainreader Appoints Leading Neuroradiologist and World-Class Physician-Scientist Cyrus A. Raji, MD, PhD as Chief Medical Officer
Aalborg, Denmark – January 14, 2026 Brainreader, a global leader in advanced brain volumetric analysis, today announced the appointment of Cyrus A. Raji, MD, PhD as its new consulting Chief Medical Officer (CMO). A tenured Associate Professor of Radiology and Neurology at the prestigious Washington University in St. Louis, Dr. Raji brings internationally recognized expertise in quantitative MRI, neurodegeneration, and brain health, strengthening Brainreader’s clinical leadership as the company accelerates innovation in volumetric imaging and early detection of neurological disease.
Brainreader is the developer of Neuroreader®, an FDA-cleared and CE-marked medical software device that provides automated, highly accurate quantification of 83 brain volumes in less than 10 minutes, significantly faster and more reproducible than traditional manual segmentation methods. Neuroreader® is used globally by neurologists, neuroradiologists, and clinicians to support the detection and monitoring of neurodegenerative conditions.
Dr. Raji has already played an influential scientific role in the advancement and clinical validation of volumetric MRI. His peer-reviewed research has helped establish Neuroreader® as a trusted tool for assessing Alzheimer’s disease, traumatic brain injury (TBI), and frontal temporal dementia. As he has noted in the literature:
“Neuroreader® has been successfully utilized in multiple peer-reviewed studies of neurological diseases.” Dr. Raji has published over 100 peer-reviewed scientific manuscripts, cited by other scientists over 7,000 times, is funded by the National Institutes of Health, and has received multiple awards for his scientific achievements, most recently the 2025 Mark A. Smith Alzheimer Award. His work has been featured by the New York Times, the Washington Post, CNN, and Fox News.
A Vision Aligned with the Future of Precision Neuroimaging
“We are honored to welcome Dr. Raji as Chief Medical Officer,” said Mads Fiig, CEO of Brainreader. “His pioneering work in quantitative imaging and his deep understanding of neurodegenerative disease will be instrumental as we expand the clinical impact of Neuroreader®. Dr. Raji’s experience bridges advanced research and real-world patient care, exactly what is needed to bring volumetric MRI into routine clinical workflows globally.”
Dr. Raji’s research spans Alzheimer’s imaging biomarkers, brain aging, metabolic imaging, and advanced structural MRI techniques. His appointment further elevates Brainreader’s long-standing mission of empowering clinicians with objective, reproducible volumetric data that improves diagnostic confidence and supports earlier, more personalized treatment strategies.
Dr. Raji will guide Brainreader’s clinical research strategy, scientific collaborations, and integration of volumetric MRI into mainstream neurology and radiology workflows.
“I am quite eager to join Brainreader at this pivotal moment,” said Dr. Cyrus A. Raji, MD, PhD. “With innovations in Alzheimer’s therapy and molecular diagnostics, MRI with volumetric quantification afforded by Neuroreader is essential to characterizing neurodegeneration in this population. It also has the ability to provide broader insights into brain health, given the multitude of modifiable causes of brain atrophy.”
